What to expect in your first Acupuncture session:
Most people don’t like the thought of having needles on them. That is normal and expected. It’s ok to be nervous. The needles are incredibly thin – about 10 times thinner than a hypodermic needle. The insertion is relatively painless and I will talk you through the entire process.
A few important things to keep in mind:
- Always eat before your appointment as Acupuncture lowers blood sugar.
- Please wear loose and comfortable clothing (not yoga pants and tight sports bras)
- Let me know if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or are taking blood thinners
Each treatment is different and completely individualized since we are all different and present even the same diagnosis differently.
Your treatment may include acupuncture, electrical stimulation acupuncture, moxa (the safely burning of an herb called Mugwort on acupuncture points), cupping, gua sha and herbs.
Sessions last 50 minutes and you’ll likely leave very relaxed and possibly sleepy. Many of my patients fall asleep and wake up very rested from a deep nap.
